Van der Valk Flybridge

Micamo

Bespoke beauty

The all-custom flybridge motoryacht Micamo is for a client wishing to travel epic distances off the coast of Japan. New flag state rules for pleasure craft were required for a project that includes a highly sophisticated exterior and interior by Guido de Groot. Micamo showcases an amazing degree of customisation for a 21-metre yacht while Volvo Penta IPS-1350 propulsion gives a top speed of 29.5 knots.

General arrangement

Optimising space

Every centimetre of Micamo is meticulously planned inside and out to ensure a practical and inviting onboard environment. The interior has a minimalist Japanese style fused with various European influences and giant windows flood the spaces with light. Seating for the lounge and flybridge is completely tailored to owners and guests. Uniquely for a Dutch-built boat, Micamo even has a 1144mm x 800mm Japanese bath tub.

At the helm

The owner’s desire to operate this complex yacht himself most of the time had a major effect on the layout. The wheelhouse is kept free of intrusive reflections during night-time passages and an electric blackout screen at the stops light from shining up the bridge stairwell Sliding doors close off the rest of the main deck when required and a day head placed behind the bridge avoids the owner having to go below when on watch. Here as elsewhere, functional choices are translated into special designs with stylish aesthetics on Micamo.
