SAMBA

The rhythm of life

Currently in build for experienced hands-on owners, everything from the waterline up on this delightful all-aluminium tri-deck superyacht has been custom-designed by Guido de Groot. A rich focus on outdoor leisure spaces, including a large swimming platform, is incorporated within an elegant explorer-like look. Safety is at a premium in this multi-generation family yacht with high bulwarks on the side decks, and smart colour separations instead of open railings. The rhythmic lines, complex surfaces and sculptural elements will be as relaxing to the eye as the lifestyle onboard.

General Arrangement

Inspired by success

The starting point for Project Samba was the hull design of the multi-award-winning Lady Lene. Leveraging on her proven engineering and naval architecture, Project Samba’s owners opted for a fast displacement hull with twin MAN 1450 hp diesels offering an expected top speed of around 17 knots. Lady Lene’s expansive aft deck area served as further inspiration while the rest of the yacht features pure bespoke thinking. Highlights include a beach club with chill-out area & sauna, a bridge deck saloon that opens up on three sides for maximum connection with the outside environment, and smart balconies next to the wheelhouse.

Investment in time

Extensive 3D modelling was deployed throughout the design phases to give the owners a true sense of how Project Samba will look and feel when completed. This was especially important as the yacht will be very much a second residence for the owners, with the aft deck being the equivalent of a large garden. They were very involved in the whole process of design to ensure everything onboard is suitable for the extensive use expected and it is has been a pleasure for us all to work with clients so invested in their yacht on a personal level.. Their rich knowledge has also been leveraged on for the technical side of Project Samba, including choosing the best possible equipment for the wheelhouse.
