Latest launch wins major award

We are very pleased to report that the Waterdream California 52, delivered to her delighted owner in August, has won the ‘most innovative award’ at the World Yacht Trophies 2020 in the 45 to 64 foot category. This 14.62-metre motoryacht, completed by the Van der Valk craftsmen in less than five months while taking all Covid-19 precautions into account, was due to be at the Cannes boat show this week to collect the prize in person.

While the show’s late cancellation was a disappointment, it has allowed many more people on and around the waters of Amsterdam to admire this pioneering weekender, which was custom-built for the Dutch company Waterdream owned by Prince Bernhard of Oranje-Nassau. We are now looking forward to continuing this successful cooperation in the future, and congratulations are also due to the design team at Vripack for drawing such a super-stylish motoryacht.

You can read all about the first California 52 here and see some fine images of the boat in action. This is actually the second year in a row that Van der Valk has won a prestigious award at the World Yacht Trophies, following on from the success of the BeachClub 600 in 2019. While ensuring our clients are happy will always be the number one priority for our yard, such recognition by our industry peers for the quality and innovation of the Van der Valk team is of course very welcome indeed.
