Blue Jeans finalist in ISS Design Awards
The news that the Van der Valk superyacht Blue Jeans has become one of the finalists for the International Superyacht Society’s Design and Leadership Awards is very welcome indeed. Our office was responsible for both the interior and exterior design of this custom-built pilothouse motoryacht, which has already won one of the major industry prizes this year at the World Superyachts Award in Istanbul.
The fact that she has such high ceilings and yet is a sleek looking yacht with plenty of interior and exterior entertaining space is a genuine success story. The tall flybridge and raised bow give Blue Jeans a very distinctive look of which everyone at Guido de Groot Design is proud. Thanks are also due for the amazing work of the Van der Valk craftsmen for translating ours and the owners’ ideas into reality.
The ISS Design Awards are given to reward outstanding achievements in the design and construction of large yachts. Blue Jeans, which is up for a prize in the ‘Best in Motor <500 GT’ category, is most certainly a fine achievement. The owners actually set out to make an award-winning yacht from the outset and gave us a great deal of leeway as designers to create something special.
